The Manitowoc Company By Glen Tellock CEO

Glen Tellock President and CEO of the Manitowoc Company gave a very interesting presentation on the Manitowoc Company today. Tellock reported that the crane business is what they are most known for but a significant part of the business is also in the manufacture of hot and cold commercial appliances for restaurants, retail stores, and business applications. Seventy three percent of their business is in the U.S. in this part of the business. A great deal of the business is in after market applications which are driven by menu changes, safety issues, and labor saving moves. About 40% of the $4.5 billion operation is in the food service area.
Manitowoc manufactures three different brand names with about 47% of business being done in the U.S., 43 % in Europe and 10% Asia. Eighty six percent of the product is new machinery the rest after market. Most of the equipment is done for commercial and business applications with power companies and high way construction following. The largest crane ever made, a 25,000 ton is under construction at the present time the cost will be in the $20 to $30 million mark
